I-25 Fillmore Street Interchange

The I-25 Fillmore Street interchange is a nice improvement for the entire neighborhood and looks fantastic. You can view a large PDF graphic of the new traffic patterns.

Two new bridges have replaced one old one with each about 220 feet long. Pedestrians can enjoy a new 14-foot-wide sidewalk on the eastbound side. There are also 5-foot-wide bicycle lanes on both bridges.

Local Public Schools

Our local public schools are in Colorado Springs School District 11. What does this mean for you? It means more choices for parents and students than any other school district in the City.

Living at Paloma Terrace, you have a choice of where to send your child to school. The District 11 choice window is November 2—February 12. Mark it on your calendar. It’s your opportunity to enroll your student in a school that offers a path to lifelong success.

District 11 has International Baccalaureate programs at the elementary, middle and high school level. And programs like CORE Knowledge and Advanced Placement. Plus a unique Gifted and Talented program. And a comprehensive Career and Technology Education program. It’s very well rounded.

In August 2014, the Veterans Administration opened a new $20 million 80,000 square-foot outpatient clinic within a half mile of Paloma Terrace. The clinic currently serves 20,000+ veterans. It provides a wide range of services including optometry and audiology. Pharmacy and occupational therapy. Physical therapy and a laboratory. Plus a pre- and post-surgical clinic. Compensation and pension services. And homeless services.

Nearby Shopping

The Uintah Gardens shopping center, five minutes from us, includes King Soopers and Walgreens. Ace Hardware and Petco. Subway and more. We’re also less than ten minutes from University Village Colorado. That’s an upscale shopping mall. It’s anchored by Costco and Kohl’s. Lowe’s and Trader Joe’s.

Proposed Hospital Campus

In June 2015, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services filed a preliminary plan for a 51-acre, 775,000 square-foot hospital and medical office campus. They want to build at the northeast corner of West Fillmore and Centennial Blvd. That’s 0.6 miles from Paloma Terrace.

We hope it happens. Penrose-St. Francis has been named one of “America’s 50 Best Hospitals” for 9 years in a row (2008 – 2016) by Healthgrades.
